KEEPING JAZZ ALIVE AND THRIVING IN TEXAS

Founded in 2018 by musician Kris Kimura, Texas Jazz Society is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that seeks to preserve and promote jazz music. Guided by its mission, Texas Jazz Society entertains, educates, supports, and honors the tradition of jazz music through performances, clinics, and masterclasses.

To keep jazz alive and thriving, Texas Jazz Society has partnered with Parker Jazz Club to provide an avenue for jazz musicians to earn working wages while sharing their art.

Initiatives

EDUCATION AND SUPPORT

Texas Jazz Society hosts educational performance opportunities for youth from area schools to experience professional musicianship in a live music venue, as well as masterclasses for musicians at all levels.

We offer local high school jazz programs an opportunity to attend clinics and workshops. They also have the opportunity to perform at a world class venue in front of their family and friends. All ticket sales go directly back to their respective programs.

TONY AND JUNE PROJECT

The Tony and June Project is a special program we have been providing at no cost to Central Texas nursing homes, assisted living centers, and retirement communities since 2013. Texas Jazz Society works with talented professional jazz musicians to arrange onsite performances and social visits to entertain elderly audiences and oftentimes stir up memories through the music.

The Tony and June Project is a two-part project that we have been providing at no cost to community nursing homes, assisted living centers, and retirement communities since 2013. The first half of the visit consists of a jazz ensemble performing for 45 minutes to an hour. For the second half of the visit, each of the musicians sits down and visits with a resident for 45 minutes to an hour. The music inevitably stirs up some memories, and the musicians have found that the conversations are the most rewarding part for them every time.
